Tour detailed description

Discover the tragic historical episode of Nazi occupation of the Czech Republic on our Private Guided Tour in Prague. Despite the indisputable beauty of the city, the scars of the terror of Nazi Occupation still remain on the walls of the Old Town. Your private tour guides will take you on a walk through the streets of Prague, passing by many sites related to this period of history.

The tour begins with a visit to the University of Law, which served as the headquarters of the SS during the Nazi occupation. Here you’ll learn about International Students Day, a significant event in Czech history that is celebrated on November 17th each year.

We’ll pass by the Petschek Palace, which gained notoriety during WWII as the Gestapo headquarters for the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (today’s Czech Republic). The building itself became a site of imprisonment and torture of countless members of the Czech resistance, leaving a haunting legacy.

One of the highlights of the tour is learning about the Czech resistance movement, which increased in strength toward the end of WWII. You’ll hear about its most famous act – Operation Anthropoid – which was the assassination of one of Hitler’s most powerful generals, Reinhard Heydrich. This act was the war’s only successful elimination of a senior Nazi leader. You’ll visit several sites related to the operation, including the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, where you’ll visit the War Resistance Museum and step into an underground crypt. This crypt was the last hideout of Czech paratroopers and partisans who carried out the Heydrich assassination during the so called operation Anthropoid.

Throughout the tour, I will point out the scars of the war that can still be seen on the walls of the Prague city quarters. Despite the beauty of Prague, the town bears witness to the terror of the Nazi occupation.

This private guided tour is a must-do for anyone interested in the history of World War II and the impact it had on Prague. Book your tour now and let me bring this tragic chapter of Czech history to life for you.
